About NVMe Base Duo

Hi, I recently bought the NVMe Base Duo, I do not want Raspberry Pi 5 to boot from it, because I know it cant be done, but the problem I have is that I need to mount the drives on every start, please help, Thanks

A couple of lines in /etc/fstab should sort that for you. Get the uuid for each device with lsblk.

There’s a guide in the Debian docs, which PiOS is based on. Should help you get sorted.

You can now boot from a drive that’s connected via Duo, as long as your Pi 5 firmware is updated to the most recent version :)

Thanks fishgotnosole and hel, but it is really frustrating, Tried adding lines to /boot/firmware/config.txt, /boot/firmware/cmdline.txt and /etc/fstab, updated rpi-eeprom-config but no change. NVMe drives appear (unmounted) on lsbk, I mount them, check and show mount points, reboot and again no mount points.

Might be time to take it up with Pimoroni Support more directly. Clicky here. There maybe an issue with the NVMe base that terminal-fu won’t easily solve. Hope it gets you going.

Thanks fishgotnosole, I will. I am really amazed of the amount of issues regarding nvme ssd’s over pcie and raspberry pi, thought that an easy step-by-step guide should be ready by now, but all you find are trial and errors. I am not computer savvy, have little experience with raspberry pi (linux, debian, etc), but like to explore, create, and found the project of creating a hi-fi streamer using raspberry pi really interesting. Doing my best not to lose my faith, thanks again
