Cannot get Adafruit Stereo Bonnet to work

I am trying to get the bonnet to work properly. I have it fully assembled and connected to a Raspberry pi 3. I’ve ran the setup found here https://learn.adafruit.com/adafruit-speaker-bonnet-for-raspberry-pi/raspberry-pi-usage At the end this is what it says:

Stream parameters are 48000Hz, S16_LE, 2 channels

All done!

I try to test them and the following is displayed:

The speaker never makes a sound, but when upon reboot it crackles when Raspbian is loading. What could the issue be? I’m running a fresh install of the latest version of Raspbian Jessie with Pixel. The only thing that is on Raspbian other than what it comes with is the Alexa sample program.

I’m having the exact same problem. It crackles upon booting but other than that I cant get any sound out of it. I´m running the latest distribution of the jessie full.
