I’ve been switching to the extended long bolts and adding a diffuser.
Something like this may work in your case, no pun intended.

Premium Pi standoff selection - Pimoroni
or these
Extended Pi Standoffs - Pimoroni
You need ones with the extra threaded stud at the end to go in where the screw normally goes on top of the pHat.
