Extension wires for skywriter

Hello. I have Raspberry Pi stashed on top of my kitchen cabinets. I would like to have Skywriter hanging from the wall on the opposite side. About 3-4 meters of extension wires would be needed. Would this work? Would I need some special wires, or would the regular jumper wires be OK?

Nope. It wouldn’t work. You’d need another Pi situated near the Skywriter to run it, and send the data over your wireless network or something more robust over long distances.

It wont work because it communicates using i2c, a low-voltage protocol and bus design typically used to communicate over distances of meters. It can be pushed to centimetres in some cases, but over distances of meters a mix of crosstalk, bus capacitance and voltage drop would turn the i2c communication to mush.
