After receiving and setting up my Inky Frame, it worked flawlessly for a few days, powered by the 3xAA battery pack. It then suddenly stopped working while in the middle of a display-refresh. I put in new batteries, but that didn’t help. Everything’s fine when powering it using the USB connector, though.
I hadn’t moved it or changed anything at all when the battery pack stopped working, so I’m a little lost right now. Could it be the battery pack itself, that needs to be replaced or is there a problem with the Inky Frame? I’d be happy for suggestions how to find out which component may be faulty.
Have you tried the instructions from the learning guide yet?
Once you hit reset on a battery powered Inky, you’ll have to press one of the buttons to trigger it to wake up and run main.py. It needs a fairly solid press to wake it up (this is because there’s a short delay whilst MicroPython starts up, so it can miss quick button presses).
Interesting. Considering I had that problem two years ago, I can’t say for sure if I tried that or not, even though I know I didn’t give up easily.
I just gave it a try, though, and it now seems to work again using the battery pack!
Here’s what I did:
Connected the Inky with my computer via USB, replaced my “old” main.py with the default one, rebooted to verify that it’s working, then connected the battery pack, disconnected it from the computer and turned the battery pack on. It booted flawlessly.
