InkyFrame not starting on battery power

My InkyFrame (5.7") has stopped working on battery power (3xAA battery pack that’s included with the kit). Even the simplest program to turn on an LED doesn’t work. It worked fine until today, and works fine on USB - any clues where to start looking?

I did try changing the batteries :)

Just to confirm, you swapped the included batteries for rechargeables?
And if yes, how did you recharge them?

included batteries could be old and not able to hold a good charge any more ,i would try some new ones
