Pibow Suitability

Hi there,

I have a Raspberry Pi 3 B with a Hyperpixel display on it mounted on the side of a wall in my maker shed and I was wondering whether or not the Pibow cases would be appropriate for it?

Since it’s in my shed, I often do a lot of woodworking in there as well, which can produce a lot of dust, even with my extractor. I’d preferably like a case that can mount on the wall easily and keep the majority of the dust off of the delicate electronic pieces, whilst still being robust enough to withstand the rare knock from a rouge dowel etc.

Can anyone give me any ideas as to how “sealing” the Pibow case is, or recommend any other cases that may be suitable?

Thanks,
Picard

A PIBOW likely won’t keep the dust out, or even cover/protect the Hyperpixel. Something like this might work. https://www.adafruit.com/product/905 shows out of stock though, there is also a smaller version, https://www.adafruit.com/product/903 Might not be big enough though.

I have a Pi A+ with Sense Hat mounted in the larger one. Mine is full of vent holes though to let the heat out. It’s mainly for protecting the Pi etc from knocks and bumps. It’s a portable setup with powerboost and lipo battery.

Looks nice, thank you!
I’ve signed up for the stock list, so hopefully it’ll be back in stock some time soon. It looks like the smaller variant is just slightly too small for the RPI 3.
I’ll keep my eye out for other cases as well, but being weatherproof, it looks like that is an almost ideal solution. :)

Mine isn’t water proof, not anymore. I drilled lots of holes in it for cooling. Plus my Sense hat is inside and needs fresh air for the sensors to get accurate readings of humidity etc.

It certainly won’t be sealed but a pibow with two heigh extension layers will protect the pi and hyperpixel to some extent.
