Picade PCB firmware upgrade necessary / recommended?

Hi

I’m quite new with Pimoroni, Raspberry, Arduino & Co. and have just assembled my Picade case.
Before I start to build in my Raspberry Pi (3) and install RetroPie 4 (I plan to use MAME 2003 games), I wonder if I should update the Picade PCB firmware before?

I heard about “new or alternate” firmwares respectively for the Picade PCB, and now I’m confused if I should update anything?

Kind regards,
Roman

My recommendation would be to test the board as shipped to you, since that’s the state QA occurred in.

If you run into issues post in these forums and we can advise whether they seem related to retropie settings, other software aspects on the Pi, or hardware/firmware issues.
