Pimoroni BME680 + WEMOS D1 (ESP8266; Arduino IDE) -- Possible?

Dear Pimoroni Community,
I am VERY new to the topic of hardware so please be patient. I apologize for my ignorance…

I really want to make my own air quality sensor. So far, I’ve bought a Pimoroni BME680 Breakout sensor and I have a WEMOS D1 development board with ESP8266 module (I had used it before with Arduino IDE for some very basic projects or “exercises”).

My question is: is it even possible to put it together?

I started with soldering headers to my BME680 and now I really do not know what to do next, how to get it running. To be honest, it would be great to know how to even check if my sensor works haha! Then, I can spend months developing this project. But how to begin?

I honestly don’t even know where to find some tips or tutorials or who I can ask.

Does any of you have an experience with similar projects or could help me?
