Pirate Audio 3w amp - Cannot get it to work

Have a pi Model 3B+
Installed bookworm - Desktop 32 Bit OS
run the pirate-audio/mpoidy script
OMG it has driven me nuts
First the script complained about not getting lock on the var/lib files etc
managed to get round that.
Then during the installing Pirate Display Plugins
complained about externally managed environment
Had to install pip packages one by one ensuring that i was sudo on the system and also had to use the --break-system-packages
finally got to the end of the installer and then mopidy just exits with code status 1
yes mopidy added to video group and an whole lot more

I do not remember it being this painful to get the board up and running

i even reverted to BUSTER with pretty close to the same amount of pain

i am open to suggestions on getting this working (hopefully before i take a Blow torch to the board)

thanks
