Just built Pirate Radio today, got it working right away, but three related problems.
I did the test.sh script and find the volume down button is not working - the rest test OK. I guess that’s down to my poor soldering, but which pin do I need to look at?
Start up blasts my elderly ear drums with some truly dreadful sounds at maximum volume, and I’ve tried two suggestions for setting it lower by editing system files. Neither have made any difference.
I wrote a playlist.m3u to the boot disk as suggested in another topic here, then rebooted, but still got the same raucous stations. It seems logical enough writing a file that will be picked up on next boot, so I’m not sure where I’m going wrong.
Pin 37 controls volume down, and when I looked closely, I saw it was not soldered! Soon fixed by careful application of soldering iron.
So I don’t need the answer to question 2 - I can set the volume and it’s remembered in a reboot.
I need to investigate how to find new stations, but my real objective is to use the Pirate Radio as a player for my piCoreplayer squeezebox, so that’s where I’m going next.
In the meantime though a new question: I browse to 192.168.1.66:8080 and get a little login form, so I know the VLC web interface is up. I can’t log in though - I’ve tried the pi user credentials (which enable me to connect via SSH). Is there a default user-id and password that I haven’t found?
