Ah, a pimoroni sale and a presto going for a good price. I could do with another nice presto screen, but one that I can mount in my own 3d print. So mmm, is it a presto and a hacksaw that I need :-)
But seriously pimoroni bods I think your nice screen offering would be better as a single panel and mountable in a stand with a suitable slot or something. This would mean its also easy to use in other panels or enclosure’s. I recommend you give serious consideration to all your future pimoroni boards as to how they may be incorporated into a users project enclosures as this may well increase its sales potential. Anyway nuf said, now wheres my hacksaw.
I fully support this. One of the boards where it really hurts is for example the Pico-Lipo line. In an enclosure, you don’t have access to the on/off button (you can work around it with an oversized stamp, but this is a fragile workaround).
But this is not only a Pimoroni problem, you will find this on many Adafruit breakouts as well. The only company I found that gave some thoughts about this is Seeed Studio. E.g. for their buttons they have two variants. The panel-mount variant has the connector on the other side and it has suitable mounting holes.
For your screen problem: I don’t think you need a hacksaw. It looks like it is glued (and some people here already posted about problems they have with the display coming off). You still have the problem of missing mounting holes, but in my 3D designs I usually work around this using friction fit builds.
