Hi, just upgrading my Pi5 from a Raspberry Pi 5 Official Case with Fan to a Argon NEO 5 M.2 NVME PCIE Case for Raspberry Pi 5 and I’ve just realised I’ll need to remove the main heatsink. Is there a technique to do this safely?
Thanks

What do you mean by “main heatsink”?
If you mean the small silver plate covering over the CPU then that stays there!
The heatsink that is provided with the Raspberry Pi 5 Official Case with Fan - which is indeed stuck onto the CPU
It’s stuck on with double-sided tape.
Careful removal by prising it away from the CPU from one side with a blade of some sort should suffice.
I recall removing one without any problem. Lift on one edge or corner as stated above. I would use a plastic rather than a metal prising tool but my heatsink came off without using any tools. Obviously do not pull so hard you remove the metal processor cover.
