Audio Amp SHIM connection

I’ve had a lot of trouble soldering this SHIM to a Pi Zero W.
I’m wondering whether a Hammer Header female connector wouldn’t be a better idea.
Has anyone had success connecting a Hammer Header to a SHIM?

I’ve soldered on regular female headers, haven’t tried a hammer header.

I do have hammer-headers and tested them for various things but I don’t think they are a good solution and I don’t recommend them. They might work. So the question is if you want to spend your time on things that might or might not work. I think it is a waste of time, because if something doesn’t work you never really know the reason.

If I’m honest, I’m not a big fan of the friction fit shims for the same reason. I do buy and use them, I just usually solder them in place or solder on a header.

I do get the reasoning behind them, no having to solder. Which is a big deal for some enthusiasts. IMHO, soldering is a valuable skill well worth taking the time to learn to do it well.
