I have been building the Picade with one of our young students, we have been able to do most things but run into a problem at the end of the project, after all software has been setup, on the command line, we had the error failed to add service - already in use, we then followed the guidance set out in this article below, and we proceed the advice in the below article and ran this command - sudo $HOME/RetroPie-Setup/retropie_setup.sh
Now all when we type emulationstation all we get is a black screen, nothing happens at all, we can see the command line is visible, we can go back into the retropie setup menu, but we can never actually boot the console into the arcade, can someone please offer some guidance on what we should do and how we can finish the last part of this project?
Just to update on my last post, I have switched this to a raspberry pi 4 model B, I have installed the retropie image from raspberry pi installer for the raspberry pi 4, and emulation station has booted, the problem I now have is, its not detected the any of the buttons at all. The GPIO pins are pushed in properly and everything is cabled correctly. I have run the command again $HOME/RetroPie-Setup/retropie_setup.sh to ensure that everything is properly configured.
(I correct my title as well, I am using the 10 inch picade)
I have now run the the following things from the retropie_setup.sh menu
basic install - complete
update - some updates were applied for some packages
update retropie setup script - no updates were found
performed reboot - this allowed me to boot to the emulationstation
I am now on this menu, it won’t allow me to select anything for configuration or map my controls, I am looking at this video below at 1 hour 34 minutes, and I do not get the same options that he says.
