Thanks for those - that all looks as it should. What happens if you power up the Pi with the Hyperpixel plugged in and the HDMI cable disconnected, backlight but no display?

Looks like it was working all along. The issue was I was not waiting long enough - the RPI takes 30 seconds or so to startup. Thanks for your help.

Had this for a few days on a Pi 3. I found many suggestions on how to cure it but they didn’t work.

The solution was to look at /etc/apt/sources.list and alter mirrordirector.raspian.org to legacy.raspian.org

It worked immediately.

@Fdixon Yeah I have a 3B+ that I have disabled the Rainbow Splash screen on. On boot up all I get is a blank black screen for what seems like forever. Then just when I think something has gone wrong it lights up and finishes the boot up. Official Pi Foundation 7 inch touch screen. I hadn’t used this Pi for a while and I guess I’m just used to my Pi 400 and 4B booting up quicker. It’s no where near 30 seconds though, 5 maybe 10 seconds until I see something on the screen.
