Picade Max Audio USB with Raspberry Pi 5 running RetroPie sound keeps dropping out please help!

Hi there,

So I’m running the Picade Max USB sound card from the black USB port on my Raspberry Pi 5 4gb. I’m using RetroPie to run games.

The sound starts off fine - navigation sounds, game sounds etc all work great. Then maybe one or two games in, when exiting a game and starting a new one - the sound stops working. RetroPie gets very laggy, but springs back as soon as I hit the reset button on the Picade USB Max sound card.

I’ve tried every solution AI throws at me - tried changing parameters like max power to USB, ignore HDMI etc. I’ve even used a separate powered USB hub to connect to the Pi. Nothing has made a difference. I still get a game or two in, sound disappears and I need to hit reset on the sound card to get it working again.

Any thoughts / help would be much appreciated 'cause I’m tearing my hair out now!

If it helps blue light flickers when working, goes solid when sound not working. Unplugging the sound card, or resetting it get’s it working again every time.

Thanks!

Sam
