Picade: Right speaker makes humming noice

Hello,

yesterday, my friends and I put the Picade together and it was a lot of fun! Thanks for this amazing kit.

I just have one issue: The right speaker makes humming noices. So far I’ve tried the following things:

  • Connect headphones to the raspi -> Audio works as expected
  • Changed the audio cable which connects the raspi and PCB -> No improvement
  • Switched the physical speakers on the speakers output. -> now the physical left speaker makes the humming noice.
  • The same issue occurs when I connect my headphones to the PCB output.

Please have a look at the following photos of my PCB in case it is the same issue with the PCB.

Yes, I think it could be the same cause. Try to dab a bit of solder on the Audio In connector on the long side, particularly the pair of anchor points on the left.

Just to be sure: You mean the anchor points I’ve highlighted in the following image?

yes, though feel free to touch up those on the other side if they look flaky.

Hi

You might like to re route the black wire over the amplifier chip too as I found that created noise.
