Battery power

I am planning on using a Pi Sense HAT running on a Pi 3 or 4 in a radio controlled boat. Are there any recommendations for the best battery to use?

More info may help. Rechargeable or non rechargeable? How long do you want to power the Pi and Sense Hat?
I’m curious as to what the Pi and Sense Hat will be doing? A Pi 3A will use less battery than say a 3B or 4B. A Pi Zero, if its up to the task would be an even better choice, power usage wise.

Thank you. I would think rechargeable. I will be logging yaw, acceleration, etc. And it’s because I have one.

Fair enough, been there done that. =)
Using a Pi means you need 5V, so that means you need a power boost. The issue there is the max current limit of 1A. For what Pimoroni offers anyway.

Another option is a power bank.

Many thanks for your help

That’s not a good argument. If you only log sensor measurements, you will do much better (and cheaper) with a microcontroller. Battery will last probably 5x longer, you don’t need extra circuitry and the build will be much lighter. You can put it in a waterproof enclosure which you can’t do with the heat that builds up from a Pi3/Pi4.

A full size Pi is only needed if you need the processing power and memory, e.g. if the Pi would autonomously control the board.
