Picade X Hat Questions

Hello,

I have a 5-year-old Picade that has an X Hat with the 5V/2.5A power supply and a MicroUSB cable. It’s running Raspberry Pi 3B+.

Last month the joystick stopped working and when I opened it, I saw that the little connector board where the joystick cables attach to the X Hat was broken. I’m not able to reattach it, so I was looking to get a replacement X Hat.

Since my Picade is so old, it looks like the X Hat with the 2.5A power supply is no longer available. However, there is a newer X Hat version in stock with 5V/3A USB-C cable on some sites. From what I can see on the pictures on the web, it looks like the newer version of the X Hat is almost identical to the old one I had. I was wondering if someone could please help answer a few questions before I buy the new Hat:

  1. Is the 3A Hat compatible with the Pi 3B+?

  2. If it is compatible, do I just need to purchase the Hat and a USB-C power supply, or is there anything additional I need to get?

  3. Also, can I just remove the old Hat from the Picade and put in the new 3A Hat and reconnect the cables for it to start working, or is any additional configuration required?

I’m not very technical, so any help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

I believe the only change is the USB-C port, so it should hopefully be a drop-in replacement :)

Thank you! I will order the new Hat and try it out.
